Cranking Car without Ignition Switch

My ignition switch on my parts car fell apart when I was removing the dash. Meaning the wiring harness and all that fell out and is no longer connected to the actual key cylinder. I want to engage the starter to crank the engine so I can test the compression. How can I go about doing this??

hot wire it..... the ignition switch completes a circuit when the key is in there and turned. I'm not a car thief, so I can;t tell you which the wires are. Damn I'm useless.

take a set of booster cables, and connect it directly to the Starter. You will have to make sure the Positive is hooked to the Small spade connector and the Main connector at the starter in order for the Starter to Get Juice.the Negative you hook to any part of the Block or the Trans.,NOTE as soon as the connection is made the Engine WILL ROLL OVER,and Won't STOP Until you Disconnect the Cables!..Be Carefull!

actually, if you're gonna be crawling underneath the car, i think all you have to do is bridge the gap between the spade connector and the positive cable running to the starter. Its already grounded through its casing, and +V is already at that terminal. The starter solenoid itself actually completes the circuit between +V and the starter motor, so all you need to do is show the spade terminal +V to get it to engage and turn over.

Alternatively... check your PM's, i dont really want to post this in public.

I have one of those remote starter switches( like 10-15bucks), I would connect the two wires to basically have the car in the on but not start position and just turn it over with the switch. Or basically don't even need to get in the on position to crank.
