a couple of vac questions

1. I took off the uim on my 88 s4 se and on the throttle body there is a vac line with a green and white ball, well i broke one of the ends and just ran a strait line with out the ball, i put it all back together and it wont idle by itself. I have to keep pressure on the throttle
2. Do you have to change the gasket if it is fairly new (good)?
3. On the drivers side of the intake manifold, right below the coolant pump thing the is a little vac nipple i think if there was a nipple on it, I lost it in the prosess of removing the uim, unless there is a vac line that i missed and that could cause my car not to idle, im stumped after i took this thing all the way off just to fix a gas leak on one of the hoses under the uim
any help will be greatful for my car,
steven

What are you asking in 1 and 3???

If you have a disconnected or broken vac line, yes your car won't idle.

And for 2, if it is damaged in any way it needs to be replaced.

And your bump has been deleted. Bumps are forbidden here in the 2nd gen technical section, and frankly bumping in only 20 minutes (not like 24 or 48 hours) is pretty rude and immature anywhere.
