Thumbs up A couple ?'s nipples & leakage...

I hope you weren't looking for leaky nipples... ew.

I have an 87 TII with no emissions(bare block, w/ few vac lines) and have installed an aftermarket hybrid turbo that doesn't have a vacuum nipple on the compressor housing (like the factory and most turbo's that I've seen do). I have the boost sensor tee'd with the wastegate line coming from the vacuum nipple on the back of the lower intake manifold. Boost gauge is tapped into the throttle body(TB). Bov(ssqv) is tapped into the TB also, but doesn't seem to be actuating correctly (compressor surge or so it sounds).

Where do/can/should I tap into for the BOV to work correctly?
Compressor housing?
Intercooler?
Hard pipes?
Different nipple on the TB?

Is the wastegate going to actuate correctly using the nipple on the lower manifold?

I have also had a problem with the turbo drain line leaking and bought new gaskets but it still leaked. So I gave the gasket a layer of High temp RTV gasket sealer and hope it works. But will the high temps of the turbo cook that stuff?

Thanks!

A couple ?'s nipples & leakage...

My wife had that problem when she was breast feeding when my kids were babies.

Ew.

So drill & tap the compressor housing, easy enough. Then tap the WG to comp housing and tee the BOV and Boost sensor from the nipple on the back of LIM?

Anyone else?

What about RTV on the turbo oil return line?

Maybe I should have put this in the 'Single turbo section'...

Thanks!

rtv should be fine. i've pulled a few drain lines off and found rtv and a gasket used.

the BOV needs to see vacuum, so its source should be after the throttle plates. I drilled and tapped my ACV blockoff plate. Use an 11/32" drill bit and a 1/8 NPT tap, then install a 1/8 NPT --> 3/16" barb fitting with a little RTV on the threads to make sure there will be no vacuum leaks.

Ok, so I need to get a 1/8 npt tap and (2) 1/8 npt to 3/16 barbed vac fittings.

My boost gauge reads correct using the TB nipple (seeing vacuum and boost).

Would assume thats what the BOV is seeing?

Are the nipples on the TB all the same? (will look at FSM)

I hope the drain doesn't leak, was smoking like a sob. The oil was leaking onto the Ex. manifold! All I could think was FIRE HAZARD!

Thanks!
