Coupe and vert seat belts interchangable?

I failed my biennial vehicle inspection on a couple of things:

2 different type rims in the rear (oops, forgot that, soon fixed)
Missing parking lights (orange is illegal here, anyone got the J-spec FTPs? Apparently CorkSport quit making them/getting them)
Emissions due to engine getting too hot (water leak, fixed)
Seat belt coilers not coiling the belt (need these, hence this thread)
And some other random stuff that is easily fixed.

Now, I am getting mixed signals. Mazda Norway says the coupe and vert got the same seat belts. Mazdatrix says no, a rotary guru here says they are the same.

Now, Mazda Norway gives me NLA on all three colors, so I need used. But I can't for anything in the world find used for convertible (not even coupe at the moment, but that is another issue).

Need input, need my car working in three weeks tops, that is with the re-inspection cleared!

I was just messing with my coupe seatbelts and have only looked at the vert parts but here's what I think...
The retractor reel in the rocker panel and the shoulder retractor (behind the door) appear the same as coupe parts but the shoulder pivot point is different.
Whether or not the few inches difference makes the conversion impossible, I don't know.

Keep in mind that I didn't actually remove any of the vert parts (it was a hulk in the junkyard and the belts were awful anyway), so there could be significant differences I didn't see but it looked compatible at first glance.

put a WTB ad up or check a thread where someone is parting a car out.
I cant recall anyone ever LISTING seat belts for sale because its just not something people usually need, but I bet there are tons of them ending up in the scrap yard because no one asks to buy them

I know. My problem is the closest scrap yard in the US is literally 3500 miles away.

In Norway, there are few scrap yards even having RX7s in. Matter of fact, just checked, none.

I have posted in parts wanted, but first I need a mod to approve my post :P

mine have been acting up for years, did you try taking them apart to see if its something simple that can be repaired?

+1 it is a very simple ratchet. in the best case scenario the grease has dried up, worst case there is still snow in there from winter...

Given that seat belts are standard replacement items in racecars my bias would be to get new ones. IIRC we replaced the seat belts in the racecar every couple of years.

I've been planning into getting a set from SeatBeltsPlus but they don't ship outside the US. These guys do though. You'd think there is a similar vendor somewhere in Europe. I'm not aware of anything magical in early 90's seat belts.

Good luck with your search.
