coupe steering column/cover in vert?

Ive seen this done before. I would like to use the coupe's title steering column in my vert if possible. I have seen at least one person with the whole swap done and the steering column cover was even swapped. The vert has its turn signal and cruise control levers on the steering column instead of in the cluster surround like the coupes. Would i have to get the coupe gauge cluster surround and switches to do this swap? I will be using an aftermarket wheel.

Only verts with air bags (90 and 91) have turn signal and cruise levers. The 88 and 89 verts use the same set up as the coupes.

You can't use a tilt steering column with an air bag. The FC tilt steering column is not strong enough to prevent collapse with and air bag detonation.

So if you were not using an air bags set up, then you could probably convert over to 89+ coupe style and a tilt column.

im not using an air bag...so i would just need the cluster surround, cruise control and turn signal switches from the s5 coupe? I already have the steering column and cover. are the ignition harnesses the same?

Where you run into issues is the set up for the Turn signals and high beams, as they are controlled by the CPU in the 90-91 vert.

It will probably involve either swapping to a 89 vert dash and front harness, or cutting and tweaking a 89+ coupe light switch and turn signal harness and re-wiring the CPU.

are the front harnesses really different? i have an extra s5 coupe cpu (black thing by fuse box) and the switches. this is getting more complicated then i thought
