TX could use help with on a couple of questions

I just finished doing the auto to manual swap on my 87 rx7 gl and its not atempting to start so i know it has to do with the transmission wiring,

ive searched and read every topic i could find on this site and others + google

connected the reverse lights to the 2 right side pins of the 4 pin harness as stated on rotary resurection and i read you could just cut and twist the 2 left side pin wires(on same 4 pin connector) together to bypass the automatic inhibitor switch which im going to guess is wrong as the car isnt starting....

but i didnt really want to run a wire from the ignition to the starter, i just hooked up original b/w wire that plugs in there

but since im giong to have it jack it up tomorrow again, is there any wires to bridge to bypass the inhibator switch like on the S5 for the s4? or is running the wire the only way? and do i leave the original b/w wire disconnected?

Second question, when i turn my key to accessory position, my oil pressure gauge starts rising till it hits the top and cant go any further without the car even running (obviously)? what could cause this?

i grounded my radio to the black wire with red dots, which i read tonight isnt a good idea so im going to reground it, but i doubt that would cause the OPG to raise like it does....

any help/suggestions/flames would be nice

thanks

S4 FSM page 50-18 (wiring diagram) is what you want. The starter wiring for an A/T car is nearly identical to what's found on M/T cars. But instead of the B/W wire for the starter solenoid going directly from the starter cut relay to the starter solenoid, the inhibitor switch is stuck in the middle. Removing the inhibitor switch and connecting the two B/w wire halves together is the correct bypass method. From the look of the diagram, everything else should be hooked up as it was before.

Thanks for your help, i managed to get it cranking, but unfortunally the wire that hooks to the starter from the battery shorted out on something and sparked and caught fire...........

fortunally it didnt do alot of damaged, so i think i can repair it, but i gotta figure out why its doing that, and the oil pressure gauge still rises without the car actually running, which i cant figure out either

Got out today, clear headed, and removed the starter and found out what caused the fire, the metal L bracket that bolted to the positive terminal was hitting the side of the starter and shorting it to cause the sparks, which inturned caused the fire...

now if anyone can help figure out why my oil pressure gauges shots up without the car running when the key is only in the accessory postion id greatly appercaite it

thanks

stock water temp and oil pressure is garabage...get new gauges, and most likely your sender unit is busted
