Unhappy Could trans. be causing vibration?

I was wondering if any one else ran into bad engine and tranny vibrations w/ high mileage tranny's. I had my engine rebuilt and everything resurfaced but soon after the break in I satrted to notice a wierd vibration. It got worse and better over time and now its at a lower rpm. Its starts at 3500 and up. Only under load. We thought it was the counterwheight at first but now because the tranny has been acting wierd I think its that. My engine after rebuild has 12,xxx. My tranny 143,xxx never rebuilt and I used to dog the hell out of hit. Any suggestions. Thanks.
I need help cause I can't do any major mods, I don't wanna blow my engine...

Define "tranny acting weird".

Have you checked your driveshaft? And are you sure it's RPM dependant?

Sounds like a classic case...

of a tranny mount that needs to be replaced.

The bushing gets hard and breaks over time. You can't replace just the bushing, you have to replace the whole mount. Factory part you can probably get your best price from Mazdaformance.com (forum sponsor in upper right of main page)

weird

The tranny under load @ about 3k-3.5k and up, starts to vibrate (it sort of pulses/thumps rapidly) from the shifter and the area around it. It make my dash, console, steering etc. shake. It only does it under load. We thought it could be the counter-weight but I can rev it to redline with out any vibration when its not in gear.
What I meant by weird is that one time while in 3rd going up an on ramp @ about 6k rpms the vibration stopped until 7k...??? I couldn't figure it out. Yhis is what also led me to belave it was tranny related. Another time at about the same rpm but in 4th gear it made a really bad metal on meatal clacking sound. I let off and put it into 5th. No problem after that. I know that my syncro's in 1st and 2nd are going... I can get a used tranny for 150$ and I know that'll be cheaper than rebuilding mine. I wanna get it fixed so I can run higher boost and mod the hell out of it..

Could be:

1. Bad tranny mounts (likely)
2. Bad driveshaft (likely)

Probably a combination of both.
