corrosion in engine how bad is bad?
I am looking at buying a recently rebuilt engine from one of the members here. When he pulled the engine he said that he found corrosion at the BAC valve, when he pulled the coolant line off that goes to the block, he found a significant amount of corrosion.
Now, I am in a position that I have to make a decision whether or not to cancel the deal, or go ahead with it and hope for the best.
Any thoughts about the future of this engine if I go forward with it? He is selling the engine cheap, $500 so it is worth some risk. But, I don't want to go to all of the hassle of putting the engine in and having overheating issues or failure within a short period of time.
Just looking for opinions.
Thanks.

If this is a short block, you'll be able to look into some cooling passages. You also want to know if it was rebuilt due to overheating, and whether housings were checked for warpage. I'm assuming the rebuilder checked the housing coolant seal grooves, but like I said, assuming.
Need pics. also.
