correct me if Im wrong... (300+ hp TII)

Im thinking about it, and it seems to me that it's quite easy to get 300hp on a 89 TII...
SB turbo back exhaust = + 59hp (lets put 50)

how much does the car gain from a niccer intercooler (but still a top mounted one)
20-30 ??

and other little bits, and the car is pumping out 300hp !!! am I wrong ?
what about fuel consuption?? does it burn much more fuel to get all that extra power ?

50hp from exhaust alone seems a bit steep i would only estimate about 20 at most for exhaust, and 5-6 for intercooler change, so then your at 25 ish HP

and yes more power= more fuel consumption

Just upgrading the intercooler and exaust can in no way get you to 300hp without other mods to the car. 30hp max is what most get out of a bigger more open exuast. And a larger intercooler helps mostly with intake temps of corse which can simply allow you to boost higher which means more power.

The recipe is generally more fuel and more boost, but along with that comes controlling the fuel, controlling the boost and a whole lot of other stuff. Exaust and intercooler is only part of the puzzle.

Do some searching and educate yourself. Take a look at what other ppl with 300hp TII's have, and ask them how much they have spent that will give you an idea of what it takes to get there.

the RB Turboback gains 59HP since the boost goes up about twice of what it is stock on a S4 TII.. And thats still only about 220HP at the wheels on a good day. You'll need bigger injectors, standalone or S-AFC, hybrid turbo, FMIC, fuel pump, etc..

when you are adding hp of mods on your car you cannot just add the numbers together... some work together to gain the hp numbers... and most hp numbers are whack anyway in other words they are for advertizing

300 hp range is a whole new turbo.

It is very hard to get a stock FC turbo into that range because it goes out of it's efficiency range in the teens(psi)

The 200 HP stock is not at the wheels, that is flywheel HP. Also as said, the reason that the full exhaust adds so much power is because the increased flow is too much for the stock wastegate to handle, and the boost creeps past stock levels (usually to about ~10-12PSI). What you will want to do, is port the wastegate, get a larger pump (Walbro, etc..) and then a boost controller to raise the boost back up to your desired level. 300 HP at the flywheel isnt very difficult, but if you are talking RWHP it will take a bit more, and you are about exceeding the limits of the stock turbo.

200 at the crank, so probably about 175-180 at the wheels. You would be likely to see that much of a hp gain after replacing a 15yr old piece of **** precat and cat.. My car probably gained that much from a 3" turboback, but my car wouldn't boost past 3psi because of the precat being clogged..

As already stated the RB turboback only advertises a 59hp increase because stock boost levels are raised alot higher than stock. You would need an aftermarket turbo to reach 300whp. Some people may have reached that level with the stock turbo but obviously pushing its limits since the stock turbo is only good about to 14psi, after that the turbo is probably making more heat than power. It costs alot of money to get up there since you need to account for all the supporting mods that put into the equation as well such as larger injectors, FCD, fuel pump, etc.

Nearly every car manufacturer measures it at the flywheel, not the wheels. And 20% driveline loss is kinda high, it's more like 12-15%. Most AWD cars lose around 27% as a comparison.

Are you like deaf?
AdAm87TuRbO2 posted a link to my website which would've answered all your questions.
All numbers on that page are flywheel "hp".

Yeah, an auto also loses more than a manual, I'd hate to see how much power a auto WRX loses..

A LOT.
Your standard transmission WRX typically dynos 170hp at the wheels on a Dynojet!
Isn't it like 222bhp at the flywheel???

227.. A 2.5RS like I own dynos at like 120 to the wheels. Thats a 45HP driveline loss for a manual transmission car. That's why I bought a TII as a third car, I have I/H/E, cams, pulleys, chip, clutch, and 13lb flywheel and my Impreza is still alot slower than my RX-7.
