Corksport Exhaust SILENCER

I don't know if this is a double post or what, but I haven't known about this long. (I e-mailed them to double check as well)

It seems there has been enough demand that Corksport made a silencer for it's SS Exhaust. Retails @ $22. So, if you're looking for a thru-muffler, with an optional silencer, that DOESN'T cost more than your CAR DID *coughAPEXIcough* then check out corksport.

Personally, I'll be buying this before I have my Cat-back made. I have the muffler sitting across the room from me... and I know it's going to be loud

Just a heads up, sorry if it's a double post.

no, it slides into the tip and makes the exhaust exit 1.5" instead of 4"

I don't understand how these work, because if the same amount of air moves through a smaller opening it moves faster, thus making MORE sound (see any physics teacher). So how exactly can it slience the unit if it just makes the tip smaller? I know it does work, I just want to know why.

So a guy with a civic must have a louder exhaust with the stock 1" than with his 3". Anyway, I can attest that it makes a big difference in sound levels.

I'm trying to think about why it would be from a physics standpoint....Perhaps you're causing the peak to peak to be shorter when the wave goes through the smaller hole. That's pretty bad that I don't know, 6.5 months 'till I get my Bachelor of Engineering. That's some quality educatin'.

The part you are missing of the equation is that it is not just air/exhaust moving through the opening, it is also sound.

Because of the silencer causes a backwave around its pipe, in the muffler tip, this backwave runs about 200 degrees to the main pulse, effectivly cancelling out part of the noise pulse.

I've seen/heard the Corksport exhaust in person, and they did a *really* nice job with it. The sucker IS loud - louder than an N1 GT Spec.

The silencer is kinda flimsy, though, but it DOES work.

The N1 costs more, but you do get your money's worth - the extra presilencer, etc.

IMHO, the Corksport system has kind of a smallish can - it may just be that I'm used to the N1, but it looks kind of "lost" on the car.

I don't get the "Apexi exhausts cost more than your car did" - shoot, we all about crapped our pants when the N1 first came out. Before that, the CHEAPEST exhaust was $550 for the HKS 50mm, and that was getting a deal on it. Most cat-backs were about $650. When the N1 hit at around $450, we started buying them in droves!
