Question "core" engines

All you rebuilders, how often do you find usable housings and rotors when you buy a core 13B NA engine from a junk yard?

I cracked open my can of worms tonight (oops I mean my engine) and both housings and one rotor are bad. One rotor / housing is from me dropping something in the exhaust port while installing my header . . . the other housing is scuffed pretty deep right before the top spark plug from excessive carbon buildup on the rotor.

How many cores do you think I will have to buy to get a rotor and two usable housings?

you might be able to save the rotor by machining it for 3mm apex seals. the seals are expensive, but it might be cheaper than buying a good used rotor.
you might want to try and find good used rotor housings from a rotary engine shop.
I wouldnt try buying engines out of the junk yard.

Actually the one rotor died because I dropped a nut from my 5th/6th port actuator onto the exhaust manifold when I was changing in my header. It eventually slid off into the exhaust port as I was taking the manifold off. When I started the engine after installing my header, the nut got ground between the rotor and housing and now my rotor is dented and chipped in a few places, not just the tips. The housing is scraped worse than when a seal ejects because of detonation under boost . . . It is fooked up real good.
