Coolnat pouring out of over flow bottle
recently my T2 has been throwing the ANNOYING "Add Coolant" light and buzzer. It happens every 3 days or so. It takes less than a 20 oz bottle of coolant. Today I went for a spin on a local road...nothing crazy never saw more than 4k RPMs and when I parked, the bottle had a steady stream of coolant coming from it. The car has never overheated. Rebuilt motor with approx 5K miles on it.
Any ideas?

Check the small hose that connects the radiator to the overflow bottle. If it has an air leak, which can be very small, the coolant can flow from the rad to the bottle as it heats up and expands, but it cannot flow back into the rad when it cools since the hose will not hold a vacuum. So, the coolant builds up in the bottle until it overflows. Might want to just replace the hose and zip tie it at both ends.
If that doesn't solve the problem, do a bubble test. Start the car with the rad cap off and when the coolant heats up and the thermostat opens, look for bubbles at the rad neck. Dead giveaway for a failed coolant seal. If you see obvious bubbles it's rebuild time. Don't worry about a little turbulence, just bubbles.

Dam go48 I never thought of that thanks. That bitch will be getting a hose clamp and see what happens when my car cools down. Its raining and I was just driving spiritedly lol.It looks like it has been spurtin out round the cap also where can I get a new plastic housing? If not I can make one!

I would think that if coolant is being forced out around the rad cap you either have a faulty cap or the coolant system is being over pressurized by internal engine seal leakage. Try a new cap or have the coolant system pressure tested.

Thx guys.
So I am running 80% water and the rest coolant (50/50) I did the bubble test and no bubbles. I found it odd that it would spill like that, thought for sure it would bubble. Maybe blockage in the cooling system somewhere?
I'm gonna flush it out and install new alum rad and e fan. Hope that helps

no, but elevation and barametric pressure does.
dont do anything stupid. just keep filling it up with the green stuff and it will eventually stop. every time oyu start your car, check to see if its got any in the hose. if not, fill it up with the green stuff till it stops.
simple as pie. for me i actually decontrsucted the whole system and it was just an offset ratio. i dont know why that matters, but it did.

elevation does not raise the boiling point of water... but salt does!
to the OP, your problem has nothing to do with the coolent/water mixture, no need to drain it unlss it is dirty, I doubt it gets that cold in Hollywood, so you dont really run the risk of it freezing either

I'll just add that the cap on the overflow tank/bottle has to be put on a certain way. The tab to that cap should be pointing at the engine. If the hoses had been pulled off the cap they could've been put on the wrong way.
