3 Gallons to be safe. You'll have extra, but if you spill it or something you'll be screwed. I've also been using Evans in my 7, (for almost a year) it does everything Rob Golden says on his site.

Just make sure you follow his procedures to change over from the green stuff. From what I hear, Prestone and Evans do not get along.

also: having to deal with the dexcool thing, i have a chevy venture (parts van) and some jackass at a gas station topped off my coolant without me knowing it, 2 weeks later, the whole cooling system is mucked up in black ****, apparently when green and dexcool mix, apply heat = sludge. Since the place wasn't supposed to top off i can't prove anything so i have to pay out the *** to get it flushed. Although i did go there and raise hell....made me feel better. So don't switch off coolants.

Yes, the red cooland and green coolant mixed will= sludge that will destroy your cooling system and possibly your engine. This is one more reason why if you insist on switching over to the red from the green( which I strongly dont advise, Ill find the thread that had all the info on it in a minute..) you MUST flush your sytem extrememly thoroughly. Even with flushing, you will still have etynol resin caked onto the insided of all your piping, which MAY still cause problems when the dexcool is ran through the system.

I give a personal account of using DexCool in my car for the last 7 years with no problems. My ONLY point was to say its not bad for a rotory. Only reason I used it is because I got a case of it for all my cars so I figured why not throw it in the RX-7. No problems for me, and Im still on my original engine and I never ever see the temperature gauge go above 180.
