Coolant Smell no LEaks!

I just got my engine rebuilt, its an s4 t2 with a street port.
it smells like coolant in the engine bay the exhaust however is fine no smell on the exhaust. my engine also stays very cool, does not make it past the 1/8 mark on the stock temp gauge. i just changed the heater core, i looked for leaks and no leaks, i have also changed the water pump. i wonder what this could be, the heater and radiator hoses were changed when i did the swap i have like 700 miles on the rebuild... any suggestions???

Mine smells that too. Might come from the expansion tank or something? A valve in the rad opening putting out some fumes and smells in the bay?

There is no such "valve".

The OP might check the waterline from the back of the waterpump housing to the thermowax.

Are you losing any coolant? If not, chances are it's just coolant that has spilled onto the engine during the rad hose/water pump swap. Even if you wipe it up, it still smells very strong for a while until it truly burns off.

Be sure you aren't losing any coolant and be sure you have no air bubbles in the system. If you aren't losing fluid, then I'll bet the smell will go away.

You likely spilled a bit of coolant while Changing the heater core too. Because it's in the cabin, the coolant will be absorbed by the carpet and smell for longer periods. Is the coolant smell primarily from in the car, or can you smell it just as much outside the car?

I took the trailblazer to the dealer because I have had 3 people tell me that they smell coolant in the dash area. The smell only hapens when the temp control is in the warm to hot range. Of course Dealer finds no problem. Had the service manager stick his head in the vehicle with the heat blowing through the dash vents and although he would not admit it, I could tell by his reaction that he did smell coolant. What should I do since I am about 900 miles from end of waranty.

Maybe find a trailblazer forum that has member that know the trailblazer. The RX-7 club doesn't really get in to trailblazer per se.
