coolant sensor install

I have removed my emissions and need to run a coolant line from the motor to the water pump housing (used to run hough the BAC valve).

Since I have to install my coolant temp gauge as well I am thinking about T Into this line.

I wanted to drill and tap my housing for the gauge but every bolt Is snapping no matter how slow I go. I wanted to know if I were to T the gauge in there would that be a good spot?

You didn't "remove emissions", you removed the cold start (thermowax), which is a different animal entirely.
But that's neither here nor there, what's weird is that you can't drill/tap the aluminum water pump housing...that stuff is like machining plastic, pretty damn soft.

Wait, are you using a bolt to tap the hole or a proper tap?

Sorry I meant the bolts on the coolant fill neck were snapping. I am using a proper tap.

I was being lazy and trying to avoid removing the housing to properly drill and tap the sensor. I decided to just remove it and do it properly.

You are right I did remove the thermowax, should i put this back in? I plan on installing the BAC valve as well as the car will see some colder weather (nothing even close to freezing) and I read it is better to keep this.

What are your opinions on changing the water pump and thermostat? They both look fine but the car has 150,000 km on it and has been sitting for years, any thoughts?

I'd definitely reinstall the BAC, thermowax is optional.
Water pumps are relatively cheap and thermostats are critical, so yeah, replace 'em both.

Here's a tip:
After you get the broken thermostat cover bolts out, chase the threads and replace the bolts with studs...that will solve the problem in future.
