Coolant problem

Ok so I have an 89 GTU N/A and reciently my coolant light........and buzzer will come on and then when I go to fill the overflow container up it looks like it hasn't moved. I was also wondering on a side note what might be wrong if when I first start my car up in the morning there is a huge puff/billowing cloud of blue smoke? Does that mean it is time for a rebuild? The engine has 118k on it. Thank you

A little smoke at start up is OK, but huge sounds bad. Do a compression test.

For the coolant problem, you should be checking the coolant level at the radiator, not the overflow tank. Take the radiator cap off and check the level the next time you get the light/buzzer, after letting the radiator cool down, of course. If the level is up to the top, the problem may be air in the system or a problem with an internal engine coolant seal. To test, remove the radiator cap, run the engine until it is fully warmed up and look for air bubbles emerging from the radiator opening. [A little turbulence is OK, but not bubbles.] If the air bubbles don't eventually disappear, you may have seal problems.
