coolant in intakes and floooding ? help asap

so let me go in order first i have a turbo ll lim and uim and yesterday thinking i blew a coolant seal because the spark plugs had coolant on them i removed the motor today was going to swap in a s4 motor mines ''s5'' N/A and i go to take the lower intake manifold off and i see coolant in all 4 main intake tracks paper mazda gasket pretty shot im thinking could coolant go threw the gasket and into the intake and get sucked in ?? any feed back is great, compression was 105 front rotor and 125 rear rotor
heres some pics

The intake Has TWO O rings that sit between the manifold and the engine.
So If you see coolant when you took it apart,That would Be sort of Normal..BUT,just make sure that you put the Orings back(Try to get New Orings) On,and apply a bit of RTV to make them sit where they should.
If you do not know where the Orings Go,then look at your manifold and you can SEE( in the pic) the darkened areas that are Circular..Match them up with the KEG.That is where they go.
IF the engine was burning Coolant, then those Orings letting Go would make the engine Burn Coolant.

This looks like a 6-port turbo. Are you using the stock turbo coolant feed line (which goes through the LIM)? If not, both of the coolant ports on the housings will be sealed with freeze plugs. TII housings don't have the freeze plugs, so o-rings are needed to seal off the area from the gasket.

These. But I can see from your last picture you at least have a freeze plug in the front housing.

No, that's an air passage from the ACV to the exhaust ports.

If there was No Orings In Between that manifold and the engine..(jesus..typing it again) the Coolant would HIT that manifold and Push coolant into the engine.

Phone Mazda and ask about Part # 13-100J (8527-13-113) Oring.

^ It sounds like it's an NA block with freeze plugs, so there would be no o-rings needed. So long as there is nothing wrong with the freeze plugs themselves.

just looked at freez plugs and ther unremovable ? and seem permantly blocked off ? any other reason why thers coolant in the intake

There seems to be alot of confustion in this thead, so please let me clear a few confused things up.

1. The coolant path in the block that is being referred to is NOT a freeze plug.On N/a motors the housings are left closed, solid metal, not a hole with a plug. On turbo engines the hole is machined out. This is important because a freese plug CAN blow, and/or leak.

2. The pressurized side of this is the block, not the manifold. i'm almost(90%) certian of this, but check the coolant flow chart in the FSM, i don't feal like installing a PDf reader on this pc.

3. Why you have turbo manifolds and running na i dont know, but do you have the turbo water pump? if so were is that line going? are both of your housings n/a( do they both have the coolant path not machined open? If they are closed, i would do a coolant pressure test. do you have a block off plate on the outside of the turbo LIM? were the coolant would normaly flow out and down to the turbo? if this is blocked off then no coolant is running thru the manifold there for, your motor could be blown, which again, i would verify with a COOLANT PRESSURE TEST.

its a n/a motor s5 with turbo 2 manifolds and a single turbo set up borgwarner t70 what are the symptoms of a coolant seal broke ? maby thats whats wrong ? but like i said theirs coolant in both intake housings and coming out of sparkplug holes

if you had a blown coolant seal you would smell a sweet smell in the exhaust and it would puff out white smoke.

if your still unsure about this do a champagne test on the coolant system. this will give you a good idea if the coolant seals are done.

or you can do a pressure test on the system like suggested above to pinpoint leaks. make sure everything seals properly.

make sure to post so others can other understand correctly. let us know what happens though.

That'd be one hell of a seal breach for coolant to get into the intake manifold. The only explanation for that I can see would be the front iron cracking/breaking on the exhaust side of the iron. Coolant pressure leaks past the coolant seals after shut down and pools, then gets tossed into the intake ports during start up. I still find this highly unlikely though.

is your turbo coolant fed(cooled)? the easyiest thing at this point, with the motor removed, is to make one of these and test the block.
