Coolant hose

Hey just wondering, ive seen two hoses connected to coolant resevoir cap before but as you can see mine only has the hose connected to the coolant filler cap. i was wondering where the other hose connects to. Thanks alot guys.

Well IIRC it shoots out of there when you overflow your overflow tank, and is just an L shaped hose.

thats the drain, it should go to the ground.

oh i thought when the water got hot it would go into the reservoir, mix with the coolant in there to cool it off a bit, and then somehow lead back to the radiator or something like that. well if it goes to the ground, i guess it goes to the ground. ha. thanks.

Yes, it's L-shaped and goes to ground, but is very short ~ 2".

Just done so that coolant will spill out the side instead of squieezing past the cap and over the bottle.

The level should never get that high anyways, though.

^^ You know what they say about "should"

There's a lot of conditions that will push coolant out of there. Overheating (boiling over) bad rad cap, bad water pump (depending on failure), coolant seal failure, et cetera.
