coolant color

i just looked in my overflow bottle and the coolant that was in there looked rust colored, like a red-ish orange. What does this mean?

Thanks,

Tom

Need to flush radiator. That red is rust. After you flush refill with the orange stuff. Cost's more, but lasts a lot longer and is less likely to rust the non aluminum parts of your cooling system.

Green is the traditional coolant for ours.

The redish orange is the new(DEXcool etc...)stuff and has many rumors going around. Some say it eats the seal on our cars but I have my 88 GTU running green and it blew a coolant seal at 102k while the 88 SE still runs using Orange at 154k.

Oh yeah if you do a coolant type swithc make sure you completely flush the system. The 2 don't like eachother.

Don't forget to turn the heater on so the coolant comes out of that when you flush.
