convertible top goes down, but not up, help!!!

sup people,

does anyone have any experiences with a convertible top that goes down with no problem, but does not want to go up. It would go up maybe 1 out of ten tries. also, when going down, it makes a skeching noice when it is almost all the way down. any ideas on the problem? i don't think that it is the motor because it goes down, am i right?

I had this problem once. I tried everything. Nothing worked. Until I tried driving around and kept my finger on the button for the top to come up. The top will not come up while you're driving but the buzzer will sound telling you the top will come up. That's when you pull over, pull your parking brake and put the top up. I think it's just something loose in the controller box for the top. Hope this helps.

so do you still have that same problem? sounds exactly like mine, i would drive around for a while and pull over and press the bottom. if it doesn't close i continue driving, and eventually after enough virbration, i guess the loose circuit makes a connection, and the top goes up. i wish i could pin point down the circuit and get it fix. has anyone ever done so?

I had this problem. I would undo the screws to lift it manually, then retighten them and it would come up just fine.
