convertible leak

I have a 1990 convertible that started to leak 2 weeks ago. The top is in excellent shape and i can find no tears or rips in it. The water only goes to the well behind the passenger seat and i cannot figure out how it is getting there. It leaks if it is parked or is being driven. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your leak will most likely be on the seal for the hardtop or the little drain hose for the passenger side could be clogged letting the water in behind the seat. The hose is underneath the headliner type deal on the top part. Can't tell you how to get back there cause my top headliner part deal was cut open. good luck

Check the drain hose, if you look right behind the door on the outside there is a pocket. The hose is attached on the bottom of that pocket on the inside. Youre gonna have to pull the spare tire cover, should be able to see it.

I have a similar problem, but haven't solved it yet (it doesn't rain much here). I noticed water trailed down the passenger side window right about center. While I never watched it happening, I can believe the entire volume of water I found under the carpet came from that spot alone.

My idea is this, if and when I get around to it: Put out the seat and the trim panels so I can pull the carpet away from the side, then have someone sprinkle that side of the car while I sit inside and watch.

I also thought about drilling a hole at the lowest point so it always drains off and do something to keep water from entering the cabin through the hole.

Please let us know what you end up finding.
