Verts have a pretty stiff chassis due to the amount of bracing they added for them, a guy on the forum was doing a build-up from scratch, and he had good pictures of the 'vert shell and the extra bracing involved, i should add some of this to my car, as it is no longer a coupe and not quite a 'vert, its a targa FC, and it does flex. It'd be nice to see somone make a proper removable hardtop for the 'vert. From what i understand no one does, although the market for it is there. It would save a bunch of weight. meh i dunno its not something i'll even have to worry about i guess, i have the best and worst of both worlds.

However, If you were to build the hardtop out of carbon fiber and the rear window out of Lexan, it would weigh much less. You also have to remember, by making it a removable hard top you get rid of the soft top's motor and clear up space on the center console for something else.
A CF top like that would have a total weight of about 15 or 20 lbs. The soft top, including both sections, motor and rear window easily weighs almost 40 lbs (maybe even more)

And why would you want a Lexan rear window??? Verts have glass rear windows with defroster grids... something that you can't do with a lame material like lexan.

I guess it'd really be up to preference in the end though...but my Turbovert is putting about 330hp to the ground and though it's fast, I'd still like it to be much lighter.
Also, In my case, I live in Texas...It barely ever gets cold enough here that I need the defroster and when it does get that cold, I usually don't drive the vert. That's when having two cars comes in handy. When it's nice out I drive the Rex (fun), when it's not so nice I drive the Silverado(practical)

staticguitar313, How'd ya do the Targa conversion? that's the one thing I'd love to have on my FC, (actually it was the only reason I was considering a Supra MKIII Turbo). what kind of cost/ labor is involved with it?

If it is an add-on, like a spoiler, then yes it will add weight (the material it's made of will determine how much)
However, if it is a replacement part (like a new hood or fender) the weight can be drastically reduced depending what it's made of (ex. - steel hood=~50lbs---carbon fiber hood=~15lbs)
