Cone filter + daily driver

Is it ok to put a cone filter on a daily driver? How does a cone react to rain and/or big puddles? I remember that AEM can out with that air bypass valve for the inlet duct, but with out that valve, will the engine still be ok?

using a cone filter is gonna be fine? also the deal with the aem is that it only "really" starts to work when the whole filter is under water. because there isn't enough of a resistance in the filter to open the bypass valve

Don't forget that a cone filter will be in the stock location, whereas an AEM cold air intake draws lower to the ground and would be affected by puddles.
