compression test on 13B out of engine help

How could you go about testing a 1986 13B engine that is out of a car?
So far, all I could determine was that I get one puff out of the top spark plug hole for one complete revolution of the crank. Would this be accurate? or should I get 3 puffs for each crank revolution. My logic is that 2 seals make suction, another 2 seals make compression, and finally the last 2 seals exhaust. So basically I figure that at least 2 seals are good as it does develop compression on the top spark plug holes. If I were to do the same on the bottom spark plug holes would that mean that all 3 seals are intact? My method for determining this was by spinning the flywheel with my right hand and sticking my left hand thumb in the spark plug hole. If one seal was bad would I still get a puff out of the spark plug hole? I was tempted to stick an impact gun on the flywheel and put an actual compression gauge on but I was paranoid of buggering something up. The oil injection appears to be functioning as it squirts oil out of the spark plug holes as I turn the flywheel by hand.

Any tips, suggestions?
Thanks

Install all four plugs. You should hear a "pop" or "chug" sound alternating from each exhaust port as you slowly turn the crank. 6 consistent chugs in a row means compression for all of the chambers. 4 chugs and you have one bad seal affecting 2 chambers.

The best way to test the compression outside of the car is this:

Take the bellhousing off of a turbo transmission and bolt it onto your engine.

Install the starter and connect a battery to it.

Use a simple switch, or even a mechanics remote starter switch and crank it over.

Do be careful, as oil will be coming out of the oil cooler outlet. Also make sure that there is oil in the pan so you do not damage the bearings

sweet beans

Thanks for the tips... Its been a while since I looked at my spare tranny, its an n/A 5spd... I didnt think the bell-housing split apart but I could very well be wrong. I might also try "RX7Tuner's" method and if all else fails I'll find out the hard way lol.
thanks guys

You can remove the bellhousing from the turbo trans, but not the N/A 5 speed. I don't know about the automatics, because I only had 1 rx-7 that was and never looked at it...
