Compression Question
Compression Question
Is the compression on a rotary the same as on piston motors? Because I tested my motor and it came up 85 in one rotor housing and 90 in another....I NEED INPUT!!! Any help greatly appreciated.

no its not the same as a piston motor. you are actually reading 3 different outputs from the front and rear housings, b/c of the 3 separate chambers on each rotor. regular guages are hard to read b/c they go too quickly, but mazda has special guages for the rotary.
dont worry about that though, if all 3 bumps are even and they are 85-90 that is decent for a not-new motor. how many miles are on the motor?

I don't really know how many miles the motor has on it...i just bought the car for $700 dollars from a guy who couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car. I found this to be an excellent deal after seeing what good shape the body was in and also knowing the potential of the car. The car itself has 99k and the motor was replaced by the previous owner....but i'm pretty sure he got a used motor for it. But really appreciate the help and am glad to know that the motor is not the first thing that i will have to replace.
Thanks again

For every new owner of a new/used car there should be a factory service manual provided. Heres yours http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/Technical_I...ice_manual.htm its a FREE DOWNLOAD of the 88(close counts)factory manual. Merry Christmas.
