Completely Remanned FC
you would be making even more work for yourself.
it is near impossible to build a car and have no problems when you think you are finished with it.
this is not even including the faulty remanufactured parts you may run into.

And that price is basic Paint no body work external only, remember I added for door jams and engine bay. But really, I was just pulling estimates out of my ***.
I paid $1k canadian for a "quality" paint job 2 years ago.
and if you "do the work yourself" a GOOD paint job costs $400 or less.
while I have absolutely no desire to restore my 10AE to "showroom" condition, I do want it to be as "new" as possible while being not stock - say the condition the car would be in 2-3 years after new, but with all the modifications that I've done.
I'm lucky in that I have a totally rust free shell to work with, and the drivetrain/suspsension are in pretty good repair too. Same with the interior. All the int. really needs is seats, and the ones I have aren't all that bad - I just want new ones.
I think if I could get my seats redone and make them look like they did EXACTLY when they were new for under $1000 for the pair - I'd do it in a heartbeat. Any more than that though, and I'd probably put some racing seats in it instead.

So what order would you guys do this process in, if you were to do it yourself? (Not completely rebuilding, but getting it close to new).
1) Under the hood/Drivetrain
2) Suspension.
3) Exterior.
4) Interior.
?

First I would replace everything mechanical (engine, drivetrain, suspension) and electrical so that the car is reliable and running like new. Then exterior, interior, etc. to make it look like new.
To get a paint job that makes the car look brand new, expect $2500+ You can paint jobs for $1000 yeah, but it will look like a $1000 paint job.
I don't think it matters at all, but I'd wait for the rebuild last.
