Compatability?

Sorry to be a dork and ask this, I know Im probably going to get harranged for it, but my pulsation dampner went out (well gee, that was expected) and its a 88' and a friend put on a 3rd gen dampner. It fit,but is smaller, is that harmful or just the same?

Also, My alternator keeps snapping belts....Why?

for you alternator, did you remove the airpump? is the tensioner too tight?

and i don't know about the pulsation dampener. i heard i can live without one so i'm rigging up a setup to remove ALL emmissions stuff because i broke my dampener. it's too breaky anyway for my touch.

Well,Im just going by what the mechanic (who isnt even certified) said. The car that the PD came out of was alot nicer, and had a clean engine. The bolt patterns were the same,so the mechanic just put it on. A nice lil rigged job.

Keep an eye out for fuel leaks every day or two for a while.

Your alternator bearings may be seizing on you (do they squeak, or hum?), or you are putting electrical loads on the alt that the belt can't handle...

I'm part of the faction that doesn't believe the PD is necessary.

The pulsation dampner's off a 88 are big and clunky, while the one that was put in is smaller and the dampner itself looks like a smaller version of the 88's fuel pressure regulator. It's a bit shinier. I dunno.

But my friends and I have a speculation about the belt issue. See it's been through 4 alternator belts. And every time we take a look at the alternator, it spins freely, so we adjusted the angle of the belts which helped, but then it snapped another one. So we think it locks up for just a second enough to melt/break the belt then spins freely again. But I am no mechanic, so I'm probably just gonna get a new alt.
