comp tester

hi,
which piston comp testers have u guys used to test ur compression?
Any brand u would recommend?

I use a generic tester in the trailing hole & hold the bleed valve open.

That will tell you if you have even compression...not what the actual numbers are.

As far as brands, I don't think it matters. I know theres a few write-ups on how to do a compression test with a normal gauge, I just can't find them at the moment.

It works well for me.
It is tricky.
You have to open the bleed just enough the get the needle to bounce.
Then spot the highs.

Do you not get good values?

You depress the valve to check for eveness (sp ?) of the bounces. The values the needle shows are not accurate ... they are lowballing the actual compression ... of course, all this is my opinion.
