Common problem... possible not so common cause
Recently lost the ability to change the position of my vent selection. Am fairly non mechanical but i disconnected what I believe is the vent control arm behind and just left of the glove box leaving a single rod dangling. The rod connects to a lever high under the dash. The lever in turn connects to what I believe is the upper vent controls. This lever is un-movable and possibly frozen. Any suggestions? Not certain I want to attempt to remove my dash in order to properly fix the problem as I am sure I would be in over my head. My car is in very good shape and I would hate to screw something up. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

The vent positions are controlled by a motor, and the motor or gears are probably stuck. Either that, or the wires have come loose from the climate control or motor.
