cold start/no idle. searched

i haven an 87 gxl with a tII swap. when i start the car when its cold, it wont idle, i have to keep tapping the gas till it gets warm, then its fine. as far as i know, the cold start stuff is still in, but it gets so annoying because my car is pretty loud, and i have the cops out to my house atleast twice a week, because im revving it to maybe 2k or less to keep it running. i tried searching, but no one seems to have the same problem(atleast i couldnt find it).

Check the FSM for troubleshooting idle problems at a cold start. That is the best place to start, it sounds like perhaps the cold start process is not working. Maybe the thermowax isn't engaging properly.
