Cold start fuel leak

Hi everyone,

I just recently bought an 88 RX7 N/A and it's been an awesome car so far. I've been reading a lot of posts on the Fuel Pulsation Damper, because of the dreadful engine fires that can occur. I've decided to go with another Pulsation Damper instead of the Banjo Bolt. Bought the damper from the dealer and installed it. The problem I'm having now is a fuel leak from the fuel line where I connected the Damper. I jumped the fuel pump before installing the UIM and no leaks. When I start the car back up I see fuel starting to pool at the bottom of the lines. I took everything off again and tightened the damper a little more. Again jumped the fuel pump and no leaks. Put everything back and started the car. Still some fuel coming out from somewhere. After warming the car up for about 5 mins there's no more fuel. The pool of fuel is dry and no leak anywhere. Has anyone ever come across this before? Seems like this only happens on cold starts.

Thanks,

Perhaps the leak was there before? Have you checked your injector grommets? Perhaps you cut the fuel line?

Did you replace all the fuel-hose clamps? The original ones might've lost their 'clamping' power...
