Cold Start :(

i did a search and couldn't really find anything on my problem. my (90 gtu) has a lot of trouble starting after it's been sitting overnight. it cranks no problem, but usually takes a few different tries before it starts. and almost every time i've gotten it to start, it would start, run at the normal high idle then stall out, even with the clutch in. then i'd have to start it again and it would be all right, i'd let it warm up, and then drive no problem. it has no problem starting when warm/hot. most of the threads i came across during my search either had a hot start problem, or a cold start problem unlike mine.

another (probable) contributing factor would be that before i bought the car (less than a month ago) it had been sitting in the back lot of a dealership for over a month.

the battery holds charge no problem, so i know it's not that.

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i am having trouble finding this problem.

unless its really cold at night you dont need to hold in the clutch, I find that as long as I dont activate the cold start system it starts fine with no problems. Try starting it in neutral and see if that works, if not get a compression check you might need a rebuild.

it is in neutral when i start it. i'll try to clutch in when it starts to stall to prevent it from stalling, but no luck!

and i'm having the compression checked probably tomorrow.
