cold air induction

need some opinions:

i am thinking about rigging a cold air induction on my 87 na.
i am going to purchase the side scoop from summit racing and mold it onto my hood just above my air filter. before i mold it to the hood i will cut a hole in the hood over the filter and back it up with mesh wire from home depot. i have a solution to keep out water so not concerned about it.

how do you think this will look. also how functional will it be with a cold air box around the filter.

I love my 7!

Get a headlight duct from Border or get your headlight cover stamped from Mariah motorsports. It will be cheaper, blend in better with the body lines, and easier. I love mine!

Pegasus Racing has some pre-molded plastic or fiberglass scoops you could use. Typically, the most effiecient design is a NACA duct but that's for smooth laminar flow areas. Luckily the RX has a lot of good areas for duct mounting!
