clutch slipping yet?

another thread caused me to raise an eyebrow...is my clutch slipping yet?

ive got an 88SE n/a, 5speed. its got about 101k miles on it too. mostly babied...by a middle aged woman. it was babied so much, the 6PI got carbonized and was rendered inoperable.

heres what have done to it:

K&N cone/AFM adaptor from MK2 toyota mr2 turbo (2x size of normal cone filter)
AFM advanced (richer)
Air pump removed
Clutch fan removed (Electric fan installed)
Straight pipe, 2.25"
6PI wired open

tahts it as far as Real performance mods.

but for some reason, once i get up near 4k...it just tach's up REALLY fast...almost like the clutch is slipping. cuz it doesnt seem like the CAR is accelerating that fast.

but, one key might be; the clutch doesnt grab till its last 1/3 of pedal travel. and yes ive bled the clutch...theres no air in it.

whats the dillyo?

Your tires could be slipping, but I doubt it.

Do a clutch test.

Wind out 3rd gear and switch to 4th really quickly. It should tac out and the car should go nowhere.

It sounds to me like your clutch is gone..

Get an aftermarket one..

damn, i was afraid of that. im having that race pipe w/o a presilencer made up for my car...i dont know if i wanna spend several hundred more bucks on a new clutch if im just gonna sell it. and if i DO get a clutch...i KNOW ill have to get a ultralite flywheel too. u know how DAT is!!!

how much would a new street/strip clutch be, and ultralite flywheel run me?

i CAN install these myself right? is it hard to drop the tranny? or...how do i even go about doin it..ive never had to do this before.

thanks guys
