Clutch Slipping Why?

I just replaced my 87' N/A motor with one that has 60K miles. The old motor had a blown seal. The new motor's clutch looked good but it is slipping. I have only driven the car a couple of times the last two days but when I shift hard it will just slip. I think it may have oil or grease on it but I wondered if any of you had a suggestion?
