No difference

I broke my clutch slave cyl on my TII and in the pinch took the one off a S5 N/A trans in my basement. I had to switch out the hose but I have the N/A slave on my TII trans right now.

ok so an n/a one will work if i use the right hose? because i plan on getting a stainless braided one anyway

They come up as different parts #'s at autozone.com ... but I swapped my 88tII slave onto my 87 N/A just about 2 weeks ago (had to drive it to work) and its been just fine. and they look the exact same. And if remeber right .. the rebuilt kits are the same part # .. go firgure.

LOL, yes, because although the slave piston is the same (hence the same rebuild kit), the cylinder has the mounting holes in a different place. You may want to "rebuild" your TII cylinder with the piston from the new NA cylinder.

Attached is a pic of a TII slave. Note how much closer the two mounting holes are to the bore than the pic of the NA piston in your link.

are the holes closer to provide more throw for the slave cyl? the n/a one is working fine on mine but now i wonder if its not releaseing all the way.

Maybe they are different on a series 5... but I swear I just did that swap with NO problems at all .. I took the slave off my 88AE in the garage (No places in town had a slave cylinder handy at the time of nite I did this) And I bled it .. and its been going fine since. Its still in my 87 N/A right now, I drive it daily. I just bought a new one for my 88.. cause I would rather have all the new parts in my AE than put new parts in my daily. Plus I lines them both up in my hand and and eyeballed the **** out of them before I did the swap to be sure.. I didn't see a mouse hair of difference. I can take some photos of both tommorow if you all want me too. Infact I will post a picture of the one I took off my N/A right now.



I will take a pic of the one thats on my N/A now ... tommorow. Unless we really want to solve this I will go take a pic in the dark .. after I get out of my Spa

No, it takes more time to bleed it again than it does to swap it. Bout a 1 Hr job total.
