Clutch Question....

Ok I did search here and couldn't find the exact problem that I am having so here it goes.....

Car is an 88 base.... One day about 2 weeks ago.. give or take a day or two... I started having issues with the clutch. If you keep you foot on the clutch longer then a split second it goes to the floor and you have to pump it to get it to shift... It doesn't leak any fluid at all , already checked and bleeded the lines... I think it's bypassing the master cylinder and that it could be bad... the part is 70$ which I don't have and don't want to waste if it's not really the problem. I have even hooked a bungie to the clutch pedal to help bring it back up, but alas that doesn't always work. And backing out of places is a B!%(#!!!! The car dies almost everytime now because I can't shift it properly and in time. Anything that I could try until I get the money to buy the master cylinder... if that really is the problem??!!!! HELP!!!!

The only thing it could be is hydraulics with the symptoms you described. Its probably an internal leak in the master cylinder. Unfortunately i dont think you can temp fix it anyhow. If you shop around you may get a better deal than $70 though, i think when i replaced mine it was about $50. They're a pretty common part nothin special is required. You might be well off to not drive it until then, you never know when it's gonna change from marginally working to not at all, and that sucks to happen in the wrong spot. You'll get stuck in a drive-thru window, or at a stop light most likely. Then you gotta jam it in gear with the car off and crank it to move her out of the way.
