clutch question

I need a new clutch, really bad. I've got a mildly modded gxl. I just need a stock replacement so should I just purchase the disk and new bearings or should I go ahead and get the pressure plate too? My car has 140k on it with the original clutch.

You can go stock if thats what you want, but if you have the cash to use upgrade the clutch and pressure plate.

With that kind of mileage, yes.

Just keep in mind, if the clutch is slipping, and you continue to drive the car, you may end up doing damage to the flywheel. In that case, you'll not only be looking at replacing the clutch assembly, but also a flywheel. Don't hesitate, replace them now. If it's slipping, if could just be a pressure plate that's ;ost some of it's "clamping power", therefore allowing the disc to slip. In that case the flywheel shouldn't be damaged unless you overheat the disc.

I've been really careful with the car since it started to slip.

Thanks everyone
