Clutch question:

I have a NA 89 GTUs with a stock clutch/tranny. I'm going to need a clutch sooner than later, and my friend offered to give me his. he has an ATC six puck clutch for a turbo almost new. Its also for an FC and everything. I'm just wondering what I'll need to run it.

In order to run a turbo clutch on a n/a drivetrain, you will have to swap flywheels, and because you swapped flywheels, it will no longer fit in the na bell housing, therefore you will need a turbo tranny. And now that you got a turbo tranny, you notice the starter dont fit and your about $2-400 dollars deep already. Its a pain. Bottom line. Use the na clutch with na drivetrain. Save yourself some headaches.

yep, won't work. get the proper non turbo clutch instead of the freebie.

you'll also grow to not only hate the puck clutch but despise it if you ever drive your car on city streets. i don't know why so many people opt for them and i usually find myself talking people out of puck clutches.

when it comes to clutches, more torque capacity is not always best. most standard full friction clutches have more than enough holding force to grenade a non turbo transmission anyways.
