Clutch problems, recomendations?
I'm running an ACT S/S 40% clutch that I just had installed when I got the FC's engine rebuilt. Well I took it out today and tried a couple of launches to see how bad of traction problem I was going to have and when I rev to 5k and drop it the car bogs, when I rev to 5 k and quickly let out as I give it more gas the clutch starts to slip, when I rev it to 7k and drop it I smoke the clutch.
Can anyone recommend a clutch besides a 4 puck that will hold off the line. I don't have much trouble from a little roll although I can smell it burning a bit from a roll but it smokes like mad when I launch. I'd like to find a 100% increase over stock clutch thats still not too grabby or am I asking too much. Anyone run an act 6 puck? How is it around town?
I went ahead and boosted 16psi today and it runs pretty strong. Need to do some tuning to match our altitude. When going from say 1300 feet to 3500 feet I need to lean it out about 3%, that sound right? Not richen but lean? Knock sensor been retarting the timing at full boost high rpm's about 2 degree's here and it didn't do that in Dallas.
I've got an extra 250lbs sitting on the rear axle in stereo crap and tires are real sticky and wide anyway so hooking up doesn't sound like a problem but I won't know till I can get a clutch that'll hold.
I'd appreciate any input.
Thanks!
