clutch problem

Well just today my clutch started making grinding noises when I would press it in, all 5 gears + reverse runs fine without any grinding, but when I press the clutch in, there would be be a slight grinding noise. Also when pulling to a stop and pushing the clutch in, it would run fine for a seconds then the slight grinding would come back, there's no noise when just leaving it in neutral at idle though. So I'm a bit clueless at the moment, it feels like the clutch might not be pressed all the way even though the pedal's fully in, if you can think of anything it'd be appreciated. Also where's the transmission and clutch fluid located at, the fsm's don't really show it, least not where I've looked.

For the sake of actually needing the car tommorow, does anyone know what's wrong with it or any fix to it? long term I do plan on swapping out the transmission, but as of now I'd rather not drive the car without fixing that grind in the clutch first.. and again can anyone point out where the transmission and clutch fluid's at, I recently had a tune-up done and dunno if they guy messed anything up there. Tthanks.

It almost sounds like the start of a bad pilot bearing. But I could be wrong though.

Clutch fluid is located right next to the master cylinder on the far drivers side. Kinda looks like a baby master cylinder.

Hope that helps.

If you're shifting with no problems, check the following:
In neutral with car at idle, pedal up, hoprfully no noise. Push the clutch down about an inch, no noise. Push the clutch pedal to the floor, any noise?

If no noise at idle, pedal up trans ok.
If no noise at 1 inch, t/o brg ok.
If noise when fully depressed, pilot bearing. When this happens, it can eventually cause a problem with shifting if the bearing freezes, as it won't allow the trans main shaft to stop turning.
Good luck.

I have these from the previous owner, the first being a clutch release bearing, a rear transmission seal, and the other I don't really know.

Idle's fine, it's doing it when it's like 1/2 way in.

Yea. it sounds like the pilot bearing. Maybe when the previous owner installed the clutch he/she may have damaged the pilot while putting the tranny back in.

I don't mean to steal your thunder but I got question while we are on this subject. I got a new clutch installed on my TII. Whenever it idles it makes a slight sqeaking noise, it doesn't make this all the time either. Once I push the clutch pedal in just the slightest bit, it goes away. I thought it was just the new parts breaking in since a friend said it's the release bearing breaking in. Someone else said that it's possible that they didn't lube the release bearing before install. Is it one of those or is it something else? Anyone else experienced anything like this?
