clutch not releasing

so I finally got a chance to drive the rx7 again. and i make 1 shift 1-2 and i hear a loud pop, now i cant get into any gear. I changed the slave cylinder. the previous 1 the "piston" broke. I bleed the system and i can c the shift fork move but i still cannot get into any gear.
When car is off i can move through all gears.
car on none.
I bought a new master but im thinking its my pressure plate any ideas? or any questions to make this easier? 1988 NA 126k TIA

What does the pedal feel like? Does it come back normally? Try pumping the pedal and then seeing if it holds enough pressure to shift gears. If the pedal feels normal then it's not a hydraulic master or slave problem.

pedal feels soft it does return tho. thats y i think my master not holding the pressure. -1 for tellin me to take it out i dont feel like it. lol but i would think piot bearing i would say throwout bearing. pilot bearing is just supporting the shaft and i had no symtoms of it going bad. im going to replace the masteron sat or sun and c what happens thanks.

Don't waste your time, your pilot bearing blew up. When it does that your trans input shaft is stuck on the eccentric shaft. Thus your trans is never going into neutral with the engine on, thus you can't go into gear with the engine on.

You can -1 all you want but you will end up taking the trans out and replacing the pilot bearing.

Stock clutch or pressure plate with broken ears.

Dude, you’re suffering from a serious case of denial.

Pull your transmission, THEN ask any more questions. But I'll bet you've already got all the information you'll need, and what you don't already have the information will jump out at you when you inspect it all.

Agreed, even if it was your pressure plate, and not the bearing, you are going to be removing your tranny anyway. Get to it!

Good luck! Remember: if the tranny is being a little bitch not coming off or mating completely before bolting in, tilt the engine back. DO NOT just close a gap by bolting it up, you will blow that pilot bearing again.
