Clutch lock up

I was driving with my friend to go into the neighboring town and i was about to stop at a sign when I heard and felt a loud thump, then I noticed I could not shift into any gears and I was stuck in neutral with my car on, but when it is off it shifts... What part of the clutch went bad? because I just got a brand new one in like a month and a half ago....

thanks one.three. Well before it went out (and before I recently got my new exhaust system before it was to loud to hear) I had kind of a grinding noise when the clutch was pushed in, I am supposing that the little noise is part of the reason why this happened...

np, a little grinding noise could be the throwout bearing, but unless it like somehow came disconnected from the clutch fork i cant see it really making your clutch not work
