Question Clutch hydraulics and repair kits....

Ok I have been noticing that my master cylinder is starting to fail on me. I was looking at the re-build kits sold by mazdatrix and Victoriabritish LTD. What kind of tools do I need for doing a rebuild on these components? Is it hard at all? How long would it take me on average to do both Master and Slave?

Mazdatrix has them for 40+ shipping and victoria british I can't remember. Would this be a better alternative to buying new ones?

Not in my opinion. NOPI sells master and slave cylinders pretty cheap. Brand new Tokico units. About $50 for both of them.

I did a home rebuild.
Disassemble & clean out the old guck.
Use a pencil chucked in a drill motor with a strip of fine autobody sandpaper wrapped around the end to polish out the bore.
Clean & reassemble.
Prime with brake fluid.

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with rebuild kits. New cylinders are only twice the price, and are much more reliable. Unless you have a drill press and the proper hone at your home, then you can't do a "proper" rebuild. Due to corrosion, the cylinder should be bored out and replaced, but most people don't do this.

And of course, the master should always be replace if the slave is done, and vice versa (unless it's really new).

Got the kit (with piston) from my local NAPA store.

Arron is right, but I am a cheapskate.
