clutch fluid loss unknown

i just replaced the clutch master cylinder not too long ago and my seven sits for winter for a few months and i lose most of my fluid... i cant seem to see any on the lines or at anyconnections, the only place i can even begin to assume is inside the bell housing where it pushes the clutch fork... now can this be happening? maybe the slave cylinder needs replaced? i mean i can drive it a few times a month and its ok but any longer and it seems to dispear... any advice would help since im tired of bleeding the clutch everytime i wanna drive my seven. thanks.... its a 86 na

Typically, when you replace the master you also replace the slave and hose...it's just good practice.
However, I don't think your slave is the issue here because if it was, you'd see fluid under the car.
Have you checked inside the car to see if the master is leaking?

whether you track down the leak or not, it's pretty much inevitable that the master, slave, and hose will all need to be replaced (I see you've change the master already).

umm, you slave sit on top of the bell housing in an 86. you should be able to look at it from above.

check your firewall on inside and outside under the master.

Check the area around the slave thoroughly as well. If it's a slow leak, you may never notice pooling under the car, but brake fluid will be all over the top of the bell housing. Leaking from the master down in between the two sheet metal halves that make up the firewall can happen too.

i also think you should take a closer look at the master and slave. climb in the drivers seat on your back and poke you head under the dash. look for any signs of fluid up near the clutch pedal and the firewall

well the reason i replaced my old master was that it wasnt leaking it just wouldnt pressure up. i can check again but the master isnt leaking far as i can tell no fluid in or around it even under neath the pedal. the slave may need changed it probbaly wouldnt hurt. its hard to tell if it is infact slow leaking since when i blead it off it get fluid all over the bell housing. somehow maybe the bleeder is leaking since it looks like its in the hole sideways not sraight up and down. is it possible to use pipe tape to seat it in better? i will check the fluid level here in a few more days or maybe today just to see what ive lost.. thanks tho guys.. one more question while we are on this topic. when should my clutch be fully engaged? mine doesnt engage till the last few cms on the pedal. even when i blead all the air out. and im almsot sure my clutch pedal adjuster is pushed out most of the way. just seems some clutchs feel a little bit different. o yea does a fd alternator bolt onto a s4 13b? my alt hasnt been all that with my L7s (killed my last battery till it was dead and needs replaced) im using a double pulley alt off an 88... thanks

FD alt bolts right on, just need to grind out the center of the pulley since the FD's alt shaft is larger. Or you can buy a dual sheave pulley designed for the FD alt on the FC, they're around $50.

As far as finding the leak, pull the boot back from the slave cylinder. If it drips, it needs to be replaced. Fill the reservior back up, bleed it, then keep an eye on it.

when you are bleeding the system, put a foot or so of clear vinyl tubing over the bleeder valve. this is like the tubing you might use on a fishtank, should be able to buy it by the foot at the hardware store. with the hose over the bleeder valve and you can prevent the mess you had.
