Its old and the color is the o-rings and rubber hose falling apart little bits at a time and thus make the fluid appear black.
If you flush it all out, it will be clear for maybe 1 week and then it will be black again.
You have to replace the hoses and -orings in the cylinder to keep the fluid clear. and then you have to flush it out once a year, or it will be black again.
Black fluid is normal for a car that has not had correct maintantence. Its very normal...

Should be clear. Darkens with age, exposure to air and temp. Simple easy bleed. Use good brake fluid. 1. Draw off most of the resevoir with some sort of suction device. Do not drain entirely or air will get in the system.
2. fill a bit above full line 3. Locate bleed hole.. on '90 it is on top of block near firewall on driver's side. Use a tube conected to a bottle or can to prevent spilling on engine and rubber
3. Have some one pump and hold clutch in while you bleed as you would brakes.
4. contunue pump/hold/bleeding until bleed hole runs new clear fluid. Don't forget to keep filling the clutch fluid resevoir.

I have a a brand new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder on my TII ... I run Vavoline synthetic dot 4 spec hydrolic fluid in my clutch system and it changes colors within a week. Just make sure its not dirty (particles of ****) in it ... its bound to get a little shaddy ... but it should not be dirty.
