It is more than one wire difference between a S4 and S5 clock/warning panel. They are considerably different and not interchangeable, but it sounds like just your ignition switch is from a S5, correct???

For a 88 Turbo, either the 88 SE or the 88 GXL panel should work just fine as long as the panels do not need rebuilding. The one for a SE would just not have ABS or the Suplimental Electric Fan lights (if your 88 Turbo has either of those).

If you have your original panel; on the back is probably a FB02 or FB04 or something like that. The replacement panel needs to have the same numbers. Ones marked FC01, FC02, FC44 etc would not work without considerable re-wiring (and even then not all the same lights are there).

I do have most of the clock/warning panels available rebuilt on my webstore/website or can rebuild the ones you have. PM me if you want to get rid of the extra panels.

the whole car we got running but since the ignition was all screwed up (literally), we swapped the ignition and locks over from his 90 gtu. the gauge panel isn't working so that's the problem right now. there is a wire that doesn't/can't plug (ignition switch) into anything because it has a different plug. im not at home so i can show which one. i can take a picture this weekend if it will help.

edit: i just found my brother's other post. hailers talked about the meter fuse being feed by the ignition swithc. probably the reason why there is the spare plug. its supposed to feed the panel. i'll try this out, or just let him know, or he can read this and try it himself.

well yes all the wires must be hooked up at the ignition switch... that is pretty much a no brainer...

hey ice mark.. yea i caught on, and i have read on too as well.. and hmm.. its really a no brainer i thought too myself but some how the cluster+idiot light isn;t working.. everything hooks up and works, even the car starts and runs fine.. just nothing on the cluster+idiot light.

yes, there was a connection that was diffrent from a s4 and a s5.. but i took out the pins one by one and manually hooked one by one onto the s4 harness and still nothing.. got a 87t2 and copied the wires and its color over.. the four wires are the same color and everthing just the connectors itself was diffrent.. its the only ignition switch wire that has only four wires going to the connector.. that one..!!
