Cluster dash dims and then becomes bright again

i have a 91 N/a FC that still have the door light on the idiot cluster im not sure if its related but before that my cluster gauge would dim and be very faint when i drive the car at night during the warm-up process. but as i am driving it dims and goes almost out and comes back on bright. but as the car warms up to operating temp the diming goes away.

when the car is cold the volt gauge sometimes reads 14volts and above. could that be related to it? i know its NOT good for the electrical system on this car not to go over 14volts

what could and would cause this type of problem? dirty grounds? lose wires? help.

the car runs great just the electrical grims are attacking !!
thanks
-mike

Voltage should be at 14.4 volts... anything less than 13.5 volts and the battery won't charge properly, and anything less than 12.6 volts and you don't have enough juice to run the car so it is running on battery power.
