Clunk sound from the rear end

I have a 89 NA. When the car is in gear and I press or let off the gas there is a loud clunk noise and jerk from the rear of the car. The more abrupt i hit the gas or left off the louder it is. Also while the car is in gear I can spin the driveshaft a bit by hand.

I am assuming this is a bad rear end? I found another one at the junk yard but before I buy it I want to confirm the rear end is my problem and not something else

Also where can i find the gear ratios for the rear ends of different years? and will a 1987 rearend bolt up to my 89?

thanks, i will probally just get a "new" one from the junk yard. If the clunk goes away I will buy a new one. Who knows how long a mount from the junk yard will last
