Clicking Clutch

Well I went into MS paint and hopefully the pic will help better describe what I found when my clutch started to click after pressing it down about an inch or two.

The thing I highlighted can retract back into its hole. What makes the clicking is that little plastic piece goes into a hole when the clutch is disengaged and when I press it down an inch or two it pops out of the hole and clicks.

My question is, what is this and can I just cut it off to get rid of the annoying clicking.

Thanks.

its think thats the switch that makes it so you have to push the clutch in before the car will start..basicly a kill switch..i dunoo fo sure.. test it before you cut it out
